Do you feel like you can just never stay on top of your marketing? How I stay consistent is one of the most often questions I get asked. If I am being honest with you, I struggle to stay consistent in my own marketing.
Yepp. l sure do. Completely transparent.
Many times we prioritize our client work over our own marketing. It happens so often. I do it too.
I believe the number one reason this happens is because we put all our meetings & calls on our calendar but we leave off our tasks!
By adding your tasks, including your marketing to your calendar, it will help make sure you set aside time to get it done.
Why Consistency in Your Business Marketing Matters
To start with. Is showing up consistently even important for your marketing? Yes! Here’s why:
- Builds recognition – by showing up consistently you stay top-of-mind with your audience. They will over time start to see you as a thought-leader, go-to product or a friend in the business world! Especially if you engage with them alot. You grow your own little community.
- Drives long-term growth – when it comes to marketing, you have paid and organic. I focus on organic marketing & growth over time. Consistent organic marketing helps you build momentum with your audience & play into the algorithm as well. The algorithm loves to see us showing consistently & with quality posts.
The #1 Problem in Your Marketing – Lack of Time Blocking
About a year ago I was constantly in a state of overwhelm. I was struggling to get work done. I was working into the wee hours of the night. Working on the weekends. All the things I really didn’t want to be doing.
I sat down & really tried to figure out why I was in constant overwhelm.
My calendar. It all came down to my calendar.
Basically, I put all my meetings & events in my calendar & then I had a “To-Do” list that was separate that sat on my desk. I made it to all my appointments & photoshoots, but then I never had time to do the social media content for clients or editing photos.
So, how did I fix that?
Implementing Task Management System for Save Your Marketing
When it came to owning my calendar, I tried putting everything into Google Calendar & it was okay. It works fine, but I needed a little more detail & customization. So, I looked into different task management systems like Monday, Freedcamp, Asana and Clickup.
- Asana – Asana is a widely used task management system & works for a lot of businesses! I tried using it once but I didn’t stick with it. I think it felt overwhelming. But to Asana’s defense, it was before I had ever worked with a system like that. There is a free version.
- Freedcamp – I used this one quite awhile when working with a another company. This one is pretty simple & was a great intro in a task management system. I think that if I had used Asana after using this system, I would not have been as overwhelmed with Asana. There is a free version.
- Monday – I have never used Monday but I have heard great things about it!
- Click Up – This is the task management system that I currently use in my business. I changed from freedcamp to Click Up largely due to the interface of Clickup. Basically, I liked the layout, structure, & look of it. It also had features like recurring tasks, workload planning, and time estimates that I love to use! There is a free version, but for my needs, I have a paid version!
How I Use Click-Up in my Business
With Click Up, I put all my tasks in there for the month. YES, I plan out the month. It helps to make sure I am not overloading myself.
I set all recurring tasks up. For example, each month for you marketing you may need to plan your content, write your content, & create the visuals. You could set this up for recurring tasks on your calendar, so when you complete it, it automatically puts it on your calendar for the next month. This saves you a lot of time!
Once you put all your tasks in there alongside your meetings & events, connect your Click Up to your calendar of choice!
I rarely put things directly into my calendar now. I have the Click Up app downloaded on my phone, and I add everything in there & of course it puts it in my calendar automatically.
Using Time Blocking to Master Your Marketing
In conclusion, staying consistent with your marketing is a challenge, especially when client work always seems to come first. Trust me, I get it—I’ve been there too. But here’s the thing: making time for your marketing is just as important as showing up for clients. The key? Time-blocking and using a task management system that works for you. Whether it’s ClickUp or another tool, dedicating time to plan, create, and post your content will make all the difference. So, go ahead—block out that time for your business and start showing up consistently. Your brand deserves it!
