Ever feel like your social media to-do list never ends? Or you are scrambling day of to get a post created & out to your audience? You’re not alone.
Social media marketing can be overwhelming. Many times we see business owners just not post at all because it’s too much. But we have a solution—time blocking.
Time blocking is simple. You assign specific chunks of time to specific tasks. In the same way you make your dentist appointment, you make an appointment in your calendar to work on your social media.
Instead hoping you will extra time at the end of the day to work on socials, you plan it ahead. You commit to setting aside time for it!
Scheduling Time to Work on Your Social Media
When it comes to scheduling time to do your social media, there are a couple ways you can approach it. You can block off a half-day or whole day to knock out all the social media for the month or week. You can also choose the break up the social media planning into little time blocks.
Need to brainstorm content ideas? Block out 30 minutes for it.
Writing captions? Block out an hour.
Filming content? Block out another hour.
Engagement? Give it 20 minutes and stick to it.
By planning time for your socials this way, your marketing will feel less like chaos. And more like a plan.
A Look at OUR Monthly Schedule for Planning Social Media
At Nostalgia Media, we average 7-10 social media clients at any given time that we plan social media for each month. We plan all social media posts a month in advance. We do this so we can send them all for review prior to posting them. We have chosen Tuesdays to be our main social media days. Here is how we approach for one of our clients, Jones Dentistry:
- The first week of the month we look over analytics from the previous month. Then we plan topics for upcoming month. We use a management system called ClickUp (get 10% off using our code), so we actually put them into a calendar for us to see visually.
- The second Tuesday of the month, we go back to their topics in the calendar to write out captions & make a plan for any visuals we need for the next month. During that week, we will try to run by their office to grab an content we need.
- The third Tuesday of the month, we work on the reels, graphics, or photos for all their posts.
- The fourth Tuesday of the month, we put all the posts in a Google Document & send it to the client for review. They are able to make any changes to the captions & leave us any comments for the visuals.
- We then make any edits and get them scheduled out!
If you break it up like this, you may not feel as overwhelmed. However, you could totally just block off a day to do all your socials or plan by the week instead of the month!
